Neko Health, Co-founded by Daniel Ek, Opens Its First U.S. Office in New York for Body Scanning Innovations
Neko Health is poised to kick off its long-anticipated expansion into the U.S. on September 24, with the opening of its first American office in SoHo, Manhattan, located at 300 Lafayette Street, a renowned area celebrated for its luxury retail options.
The company was founded by Daniel Ek, co-founder and CEO of Spotify, in collaboration with Hjalmar Nilsonne, who serves as Neko’s CEO. It has garnered significant attention, boasting a waitlist of over 25,000 potential clients in New York City.
Neko Health has developed an innovative body-scanning technology that combines blood tests with data from fitness trackers to deliver a thorough health assessment. Active in both the U.K. and Sweden, the startup recently finished a $700 million Series C funding round and has revealed that 100,000 individuals have already undergone health scans.
Neko is part of a rapidly growing sector of health scanning startups, either initiated by tech pioneers or backed by venture capital. A major contender in this arena is Midjourney, recognized for its AI-based image and video creation solutions, which is working on a body scanner intended to enhance the spa experience and aims to establish a location in San Francisco by 2027. Furthermore, entrepreneurs Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis have introduced Fountain Life, a company focused on longevity that provides scans and health evaluations. Additionally, Function Health, co-founded by the esteemed wellness podcaster Dr. Mark Hyman, has begun offering body scans post-acquisition of Ezra and has recently secured a $450 million loan from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, to be repaid via profit-sharing agreements.
