Neko Health, Co-Founded by Daniel Ek, Opens Its First U.S. Office in New York to Drive Body Scanning Innovations
Neko Health is gearing up for its long-anticipated entry into the United States on September 24, marking the launch of its first office in SoHo, Manhattan, located at 300 Lafayette Street, an area renowned for its upscale retail stores.
The company was founded by Daniel Ek, co-founder and CEO of Spotify, along with Hjalmar Nilsonne, currently serving as Neko’s CEO. It has quickly attracted significant attention, featuring a waitlist of over 25,000 potential clients in New York City.
Neko Health has developed innovative body-scanning technology that integrates blood analysis with data from fitness trackers to deliver thorough health assessments. With existing operations in the U.K. and Sweden, the startup has recently concluded a $700 million Series C funding round and announced that 100,000 people have completed their health scans so far.
Neko is part of a swiftly evolving arena of health scanning startups driven by technological advancements and venture capital funding. A noteworthy competitor in this space is Midjourney, known for its AI-driven image and video generation capabilities, which is working on a body scanner aimed at enhancing the spa experience, with a location planned for San Francisco by 2027. Additionally, entrepreneurs Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis have introduced Fountain Life, a company focused on longevity that offers scans and health assessments. Moreover, Function Health, co-founded by well-known wellness podcaster Dr. Mark Hyman, has launched body scan services after acquiring Ezra and has recently secured a $450 million loan from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, intended to be repaid via profit-sharing agreements.
