Apple Reportedly Cutting Hundreds of Jobs in Siri and Vision Pro Divisions

Apple is reducing the size of the team responsible for the Vision Pro, its struggling VR headset, along with making job cuts across various other departments, as reported by Bloomberg.

In total, more than 200 positions have been eliminated, according to sources cited by Bloomberg, with around 100 of those coming from the Vision Pro team. The additional layoffs have impacted the teams working on Siri and another group dedicated to Intelligent Systems Experience, which focuses on integrating AI into devices. Sources indicate that the company is restructuring to prioritize its recent AI initiatives and new product innovations.

Apple confirmed the layoffs to Bloomberg, stating that it is looking “to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users.” The company further noted: “While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also affect a limited number of existing roles.” TechCrunch has contacted Apple for more information.

Apple is going through a difficult transition period. The company is striving to enhance its position in the AI arena, while a memory shortage driven by AI growth has raised the production costs of its key products.

Earlier this summer, Apple increased prices for Macs and iPads, and has recently introduced a leasing program for all major hardware products — a strategy designed to attract a broader customer base as it navigates rising costs. Additionally, Apple is pursuing legal action against OpenAI, alleging trade theft.
