Meta Unveils Pocket: A New App for Vibe-Coding and Game Sharing Now Accessible to US Users
Meta has introduced its cutting-edge gaming app, Pocket, which emphasizes vibe-coding and is now accessible to users across the United States. Following private testing in Brazil last month, this app allows users to craft compact, interactive games with the help of AI prompts presented in a scrollable feed.
This launch comes on the heels of Meta’s acquisition of the team that developed the vibe-coded gaming platform Gizmo earlier this year. Dubbed “gizmos” by Meta, these captivating games and experiences are designed to be interactive through touch and smartphone tilt, along with generating sound effects and including snippets of users’ favorite music.
Moreover, users are able to add images from their camera rolls or use their device’s camera. The games created can be shared on user profiles, giving others the chance to save, remix, or share these creations.

This app highlights Meta’s commitment to enhancing AI creation tools, an approach seen in earlier initiatives like the Meta AI app for generating AI images and the experimental app called Vibes for creating AI videos.
With the debut of Pocket, it further expands a range of recent standalone mobile applications from Meta. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has indicated that the increased pace of development is attributed to AI-powered software tools, which facilitate quicker testing and deployment of innovative concepts.
“Earlier this year, we rolled out Instagram Instants. We also unveiled Forum, a dedicated Groups app, and Seller, a stand-alone Marketplace app. I expect that developing new applications will become much simpler,” he shared with analysts during the July earnings call. “We plan to investigate more ideas and utilize our recommendation systems to achieve scalability.”
In addition to Instants, Forum, and the Seller app, Meta has been trialing AI-generated bedtime stories and has recently launched a Meta AI app for Mac.
As Pocket takes the spotlight, Meta will gradually phase out the original app acquired from Atma Sciences.
