Unai Emery Announces Ollie Watkins Misses Aston Villa’s 4-0 Defeat to Brighton Amidst Al Hilal Transfer Rumors

UNAI EMERY has hinted that Ollie Watkins might have chosen not to take part in the match for Aston Villa.

The Villa manager mentioned that he couldn’t provide any insight into Watkins’ absence from the squad during their significant loss to Brighton.

The 30-year-old forward Watkins has reportedly been in negotiations with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal during this summer.

The Villans are said to have rejected FOUR offers for the England international.

When questioned about Watkins’ absence, Emery stated: “This question is for him. I can’t provide an answer. My reply is silence.”

When asked whether Watkins had chosen not to play, Emery responded: “I think you should contact him. Perhaps you want to reach out to his agent for more details.”

“It is not my role to elaborate. Only he can clarify the situation. I cannot.”

“I can talk about players like Emiliano Buendia, Ross Barkley, and John McGinn.”

Before the match, Emery simply replied “silence” when asked if Watkins had concluded his time at the club.

Watkins’ absence, coupled with injuries to Tammy Abraham and Brian Madjo, forced Emery to field a side without a recognized striker against Brighton.

Brighton scored four goals within just 25 minutes, with Jack Hinshelwood and Maxim De Cuyper both finding the net.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was also absent from Villa’s lineup as he weighs a possible transfer.

Emery has also lost Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, and Youri Tielemans from his Europa League-winning squad.
