Steering Tomorrow: Meet the Pioneers of Mobility

Sachin Kansal, Chief Product Officer at Uber Technologies, oversees the global Mobility and Delivery products of the company, focusing on safety, sustainability, and autonomous vehicle initiatives. He plays a pivotal role in determining how AI and automation will influence Uber’s advancements over the next decade—from enhanced ride-matching to sophisticated logistics frameworks. He leads product and tech strategies across Uber’s initiatives involving autonomous vehicles, sustainability, taxi, and Uber for Teens.

Before joining Uber in 2017, he held the position of Vice President of Product at Lookout and served as Chief Product Officer at Flywheel Software. Earlier in his career, he managed product development at Palm (acquired by HP) for the webOS mobile platform. Sachin has engineering degrees from Gujarat University and Stanford University and is a patent holder in mobile and location technologies.

Joining him is Dave Ferguson, Co-founder and President of Nuro, a company specializing in self-driving technology, aimed at creating scalable autonomy for robotaxis, commercial fleets, and personal vehicles. Ferguson’s experience includes significant contributions to Google’s early self-driving program (now known as Waymo) and being part of the Carnegie Mellon team that won the DARPA Urban Challenge, offering him valuable insights into how research in robotics fosters substantial progress in transportation.

A leader in the fields of robotics and AI, Ferguson has authored over 60 papers, holds more than 100 patents, and achieved both his MS and PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.
