Thinking Machines Lab Co-Founder Andrew Tulloch Moves to Meta
Thinking Machines Lab, an AI startup established by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has experienced the exit of one of its co-founders to Meta.
According to The Wall Street Journal, AI researcher Andrew Tulloch notified employees of his departure in a message sent on Friday. A representative from Thinking Machines Lab confirmed Tulloch’s exit to the WSJ, noting that he “has opted to pursue a different path for personal reasons.”
In August, the WSJ reported that Mark Zuckerberg’s extensive AI hiring campaign included an attempt to acquire Thinking Machines Lab. When that fell through, Zuckerberg purportedly tried to attract Tulloch with a compensation offer that may have reached up to $1.5 billion over a six-year period. (At that time, a Meta representative described the WSJ’s portrayal of the offer as “inaccurate and absurd.”)
Tulloch previously held roles at OpenAI as well as Facebook’s AI Research Group.
