Mbunjana Responds to Beganovic’s Dismissal Ahead of Nedbank Cup Final

Mlungisi Mbunjana, captain of TS Galaxy, has expressed his views on the recent departure of coach Adnan Beganovic, which occurred just days before the Nedbank Cup final against Durban City.

Although Galaxy has made it to the Nedbank Cup final, Beganovic was let go due to unsatisfactory results in the Betway Premiership.

Bernard Parker has been named the interim coach and will guide the team during Saturday’s final at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Mbunjana remarked that such transitions are a part of football, and as players, they need to adapt and proceed.

The 35-year-old, who was instrumental in helping Galaxy clinch the Nedbank Cup in 2019 while the club was in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, emphasized that these occurrences are unavoidable in football and should be embraced.

“It’s regrettable that such situations arise in our sport,” he stated.

“Difficult decisions must be made, and it’s essential to embrace them promptly. We need to concentrate on the upcoming match and the next chapter. This attitude will facilitate our swift adaptation to the new coach guiding us.”

“It’s all about welcoming change as it comes and aspiring for positive outcomes—that’s our intention.”

As Galaxy prepares to take on Durban City, they hold the unique distinction of being the first club in South Africa to have won the Nedbank Cup while competing in the second division.
