R6 Million Worth of Dagga Seized: Toyota Quantum Pulled Over in Mpumalanga, Two Arrested
Graskop – After receiving a tip-off, authorities in Mpumalanga intercepted a Quantum minibus taxi, resulting in the remarkable seizure of R6 million worth of packaged dagga and the arrest of two individuals.
The operation unfolded on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, near Mashishing (formerly known as Lydenburg), where law enforcement utilized a patrol vehicle to track the suspects’ route.
Police spotted the Quantum, monitored it briefly, and then successfully pulled it over in Graskop.
Inside the minibus taxi, officers uncovered a significant cache: around 1,025 kilograms of dagga, carefully hidden and ready for sale.
Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the arrests of two men aged 26 and 28.
“Charges related to possession and dealing in dagga have been laid against the two,” she remarked.
Acting Mpumalanga Police Commissioner, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, praised the officers involved in this operation, describing it as a substantial setback for the illegal drug trade in the province.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court shortly.
